Michelle Newland has dedicated much of her time during her years of recovery to supporting numerous community organisations. Her work as an Ambassador for the Summer Foundation has contributed to raising the profile regarding the issue of young people in nursing homes. Michelle is passionate about being a voice for young people in nursing homes.

Michelle has been recognised on several occasions for her outstanding commitment and voluntary work. Michelle was a state finalist in the category of Courage for the Pride of Australia Award in 2013.
